Benjamin Mordecai papers, 1861-1864.

Manuscript, 11 Jan. 1861, Alexander Melchers to Benjamin Mordecai, forwarding resolutions adopted by the Palmetto Riflemen at their meeting, 8 Jan. 1861, thanking Mordecai for his "liberal and patriotic donation to the State"and electing him an honorary member of the military company; and letter, 23 June 1864, Columbia, [S.C.], to "My Dear Children," expressing pleasure re the marriage of his son and daughter-in-law, advising his son re his work in New York throughout the duration of the Civil War, and declaring his confidence in the solvency of Confederate securities.
